With the change for the camera, Amazon’s Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5 connected screens in version 2021 are now available.
For its Echo Show line of connected displays with Alexa voice assistant, Amazon unveiled last month an update with a second generation for the Echo Show 8 and the Echo Show 5. 2021 models that are available today.
No rotating screen like the Echo Show 10 for the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show 5 which are respectively equipped with an 8-inch and 5.5-inch HD touchscreen. The most notable changes are for the Echo Show 8.
A 13-megapixel camera – with integrated camera cover – appears in place of a 1-megapixel sensor. In order to be in the center of the frame, the zoom and the framing automatically adapt during video calls. A new octocore processor is also part of the game, as well as two stereo speakers.
The screen is with adaptive colorimetry according to the ambient light and for the enhancement of the photos regardless of the light conditions.
For the Echo Show 5, the developments are more discreet except for an improved HD (720p) camera with twice as many pixels. More 1 Mpx but 2 Mpx. However, the new Echo Show 5 is priced at 84.99 €, which is cheaper than the first generation device (89.99 € when it was released; excluding promotion). It is also now available in three colors to choose from (anthracite, white and blue).
The 2021 model of the Echo Show 8 (anthracite and white) is for its part priced at € 129.99. At launch, the previous first-generation model was the same price.
